Mardi Gras 2013
For the past 3 years, we have had the opportunity to
participate in the Bishop Arts Annual Mardi Gras parade here in the OC. Each year it gets a little bit bigger. Each year it gets a little bit better. What I like most about this parade, it is
pretty family friendly. It was perfectly
safe. People were on their best behavior.
This year I observed a few things.
Great Things About Participating in a Mardi Gras Parade:
5. We covered 4.91
miles and burned 307 calories biking and parading.
4. We spent some time
enjoying the neighborhood we set up roots in.
3. Any opportunity to
put on a mask or wear a funny hat and spend some time with our church family is
great fun.
2. Bumping into old
friends and taking pics of the parade watchers is a blast.
1. It is the only
time in your life you can throw beads at people, AS HARD AS YOU CAN, and get
away with it.
So why all the fuss about Mardi Gras? Well, apparently it is the feast day of all feast
days to sin all you want. Come Ash Wednesday, you gotta abstain. It might not be a perfect celebration, but it
is perfectly fun.
Cheers!
